Katie Cassady is a Japanese-Canadian performer and emerging choreographer based in Vancouver, BC, the unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Katie completed her training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and Simon Fraser University, and holds a BA in Art History from the University of British Columbia.

As a performer, Katie has had the honour to perform with Kokoro Dance, Amber Funk Barton/the response., TWObigsteps Collective, Julianne Chapple/Future Leisure and Donald Sales/Project20. Katie has also collaborated on video projects by Evann Siebens and Susanna Barlow. Katie has continued her professional development through her attendance at Gaga Intensive NYC, Springboard Danse Montréal, and the Creative Gesture at Banff Centre; performing work by Roy Assaf, Chuck Wilt, Stephen Laks, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

As a choreographer, Katie seeks to reflect an ongoing exploration of the world through visceral and expressive movement. Past works have explored interconnectedness, personal relationships, and fungi.

Her choreographic work has been presented at Nextfest 2020 and 2021(Edmonton), Vancouver’s Contemporary Art Gallery (Dance Week 2019), the Shooting Gallery Performance Series, the Dance Centre, Vines Art Festival, SKAMpede, and New Works’s All Over the Map.
